You can make a No-Sew Baby Wrap with 4-5 yards of knit fabric. Do not try to sew two pieces together or your wrap will be weak where you need it strong - in the middle. Useful links:

Wearing a baby is also great for sitting activities when you need two free hands (like blogging, crocheting, hugging, and reading to older kids). I can even nurse with my baby wrapped! Below is a picture of my husband wearing Avi while doing the dishes. He was very skeptical at first, but now he loves to wear our baby. And they keep each other warm!

ReplyDeleteI want to thank you so very much for posting this! I am expecting my first child in May and really wanted to try the baby slings, but couldn't afford to purchase one. For the last several days I have been researching types of slings and methods to make my own. Unfortunately, I am not very handy with a sewing machine and I was beginning to wonder if I would ever find something that would take my lack of handy work in sewing into account. Then, surprise, surprise, I stumbled across your wonderful video on YouTube! The design and use of the wrap you use is so easy I cannot wait until my son is here to try it with him! I went from feeling daunted to excited in less than four minutes. Thank you so much! ( I must admit though, learning that you have a cooking website was icing on the cake! ReplyDeleteWelcome Umbriel! I'm so glad it was helpful. I'm planning to make a new video now that my baby is bigger. I think you will find that once you start wrapping you can experiment with many wrapping positions and make up your own styles.
